Opening to the public Saturday, April 27, the Dueling Dinosaurs exhibit is the newest project from the SECU DinoLab at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Every winter, brave runners gather at the Memorial Belltower at NC State University for a 2.5-mile race to downtown Raleigh’s Krispy Kreme, where they attempt to eat 12 original glazed doughnuts — and then run back. This year, we caught up with some of the racers to learn how they tackle this “unique challenge of athletic and gastrointestinal skill.”

What began as a one-off fund-raiser for a college garden has grown into North Carolina’s biggest, most beloved music festival. We had a blast on opening day of MerleFest, with local country and bluegrass musician Presley Barker kicking things off on the main stage.
